“Reset your Facebook password”
This is the message being sent to users worldwide. There is no message content, you aren’t asked to do anything but there is an attachment included in the message called facebook_newpass.html and is detected by Sophos as Troj/JSRedir-BO.
What happens when you click on?? Well as soon as you open the file, you’ll be redirected to a third party site trying to sell you a product! Fun? NO!!
It’s no surprise that the spammers would use Facebook as their disguise – after all, with almost 500 million users it’s much more likely that they’ll successfully end up in the inbox of a Facebook user than the customer of a particular bank.
So, don’t click mindlessly into email messages and attachments, be aware of the mountains of spam and threats that are linked to sites of such global popularity. Don’t allow these cyber criminals to succeed in their malicious attacks, enjoy interacting on the web safely by being aware or even better being equipped to mitigate the threats!
The newest phishing scam on Twitter has snared thousands of users hoping to increase their number of followers but instead, users are sent off to a phishing page where cyber criminals steal their Twitter logins using them to generate more spam.
Thousands of said spam messages are floating around on Twitter with links to increase the users’ follower count such as:

The cyber criminal’s use shortened URLs to prevent spam detection on Twitter made easier with a variety of URL shortening services available to them to evade standard security precautions. The compromised accounts are then used to send more spam and lure in more unsuspecting users.
